HIGHLINE ACTIVATED

2011

The proposal is to contaminate the area surrounding New York City’s High Line Park by exaggerating the emerging qualities of voyeurism and exhibitionism that are latent in its runway appeal. Each building surface is further treated as scaleable, climbable, and inhabitable, as what was previously exterior is now an urban interior. Adjacent, unoccupied interiors are transformed into indoor playgrounds and climbing gyms, further blurring the distinction. One inspiration for this project was Iain Borden’s book The Skateboard and the City.
